What this does not check. It checks clichés, jargon, spelling and about ninety common grammar mistakes. It is not a full grammar engine and it never will be: subject-verb agreement and verb tense need a parser we do not ship. What it does cover is the errors that actually turn up in real writing, each one tested so it does not fire on correct English. For the habits that make writing read machine-made, run the same text through the AI checker.

What this does not do. It does not tell you whether a human or a machine wrote your text, because nothing can do that reliably. It does not rewrite anything for you either. Every phrase below gets an explanation and a plainer alternative, and the choice stays yours, because no tool knows your voice better than you do. Some of these phrases are fine in the right place. A cliché is a shortcut, and sometimes a shortcut is what you want.

Why density, not the individual word

One cliché is a turn of phrase. Twenty in a page is a habit, and it is the habit readers notice. That is why the number above is a rate per 1,000 words rather than a raw count, so a long report and a short email can be compared honestly.
